Developed in collaboration with the Saint Vincent College Environmental Education Center, this picture book by Father Philip Kanfush, O.S.B., tells the story of the Saint Vincent Wetlands, a passive abandoned mine drainage purification system.
Rich with color photography, the book explains the history, science, flora and fauna of this wetlands system. Seen through the eyes of a child, a great gift for the eco-friendly science enthusiast! Grades 4 and up. Saint Vincent College is a coeducational, Catholic, liberal arts college, located on 200 acres in Unity Township near Latrobe.
The campus includes a Monastery of Benedictine monks, founded in 1846, a Parish, College and Seminary. The Monastery Run Improvement Project Wetlands is located next to a Gristmill built and operated by the monks since 1846. Also in development is the Winnie Palmer Nature Reserve, a 60-acre natural area which will feature trails, wetlands and a learning center.
