Brother Mark Floreanini, O.S.B., professor of studio art at Saint Vincent College, will provide support during this active retreat. No painting experience is required to attend this retreat.

Retreat Description: Art is known to be a powerful way to tap into the creative ability of the heart and soul. Father Philip Kanfush, O.S.B., author of Renewed Each Morning, will deliver reflections to ignite your imagination and creativity as you prayerfully express the fruits of your meditation by painting landscapes during the retreat. Brother Mark Floreanini, O.S.B., professor of studio art at Saint Vincent College, will provide support during this active retreat. No painting experience is required to attend this retreat.

Retreat Masters: Brother Mark Floreanini, O.S.B., founded Archabbey Stained Glass and creates stained glass windows, paints, and does various other forms of art, including making pottery mugs, yarn bowls, spinning wool and crocheting. He has an Associate Degree in fine art from Sinclair Community College, a bachelor’s degree in studio art from Saint Vincent College, a Master of Arts degree from Saint Vincent Seminary and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Savannah College of Arts and Design.

Father Philip Kanfush, O.S.B. is a professor in the Education Department at Saint Vincent College, procurator of Saint Vincent Archabbey, and award-winning author for his book Renewed Each Morning: Reflections from the Rocking Chair. The book won an honorable mention book award from the Catholic Press Association in 2006 for first-time author of a book. He is a contributing editor to the Saint Vincent Basilica: One Hundred Years, which won a second place CPA Award the same year. He is also the founder of the Bearcat B.E.S.T. transition program at Saint Vincent, a program for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities, who can acehive, with appropriate transition programming, a greater level of independence than a shelter workshop would provide them.

Time:  Friday, 5:30 p.m. to Sunday, 1 p.m.

Fee: $240 per person includes $40 materials fee.

Other Information: To help make your retreat prayerful, we suggest that you bring a Bible. The retreat office has copies of the New American Bible. The Basilica Gift Shop, located on the first floor of the Parish Center adjoining the Basilica, stocks spiritual books and other religious items. Rooms are air conditioned or equipped with a ceiling fan. Linens and towels are provided. Recreational opportunities include the Saint Vincent Fitness Trail and the Winnie Palmer Nature Reserve.
