Thomas Acklin

Thomas Acklin, O.S.B., is a spiritual director, psychoanalyst and author of The Passion of the Lamb and The Unchanging Heart of the Priesthood. He is also a Benedictine monk and priest of Saint Vincent Archabbey, a professor of theology and psychology at Saint Vincent Seminary, and a former rector of the Seminary.

He is the co-author with Father Boniface Hicks, O.S.B., of Spiritual Direction: A Guide for Sharing the Father’s Love, published in 2017 and Personal Prayer: A Guide for Receiving the Father’s Love, published in 2020. He has helped countless individuals throughout many years by his work as a priest, teacher, spiritual director and psychoanalyst.

An early interest in communications followed Father Thomas into his ministry, and he hosted the program “Insights, Religion from a Psychological Perspective,” on WEDO Radio, McKeesport; “Real to Reel,” WTAE-TV, Pittsburgh, where he was co-host of a magazine-format religious program. He has been a guest and host on “The Inner Life” on Relevant Radio, a national Catholic Radio network and on EWTN.

He earned a doctorate in theology and psychology of religion from the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium, and trained in psychoanalysis at the Pittsburgh Psychoanalytic Institute.
